JANGOJIM
Trying to improve the world by making happy silly colourful illustrations, comix, murals and animation. Juggling with chain saws while tap dancing is up next.

Last week 92-year old Belgian comic strip hero Marc Sleen inaugurated his own mural in Antwerp. I felt privileged to design a 360° illustration print for an electrical street cabinet in front of the mural. It features a map of Antwerp with a walking tour that features all 10 comic strip murals. In connection with the mural I put in references to the comic Nero and to Antwerp and its maritime history.

After my live drawing on The Voice ( Belgium ) recently I was asked again to make a giant machine to be animated and shown during a performance of jury member Bent van Looy's team. This job was totally up my alley and it was superfun to see my work that big. I love drawing machines.

See the animation on tv here!

Please vote for me in this cool contest that can win me a ticket to “Burning Man Festival” in Nevada. Urban Crafts made a silly movie about me last summer where I talk about my comics ( in Dutch though ). Just click on the link and vote.

I made the vinyl cover artwork for musician San Carol from Paris. His synthpop-styled debut album “La Main Invisible” reminds me a bit of 80’s bands like Devo and Oingo Boingo. Check it out here !

BRASS PHARAO.
In this biopic we follow the rise and fall of Ramses Thuba. A pyramid slave that starts an a capella band with his slave colleagues and later on starts to make instruments from stolen ornaments to impress the beautiful Susan-Rah. He has to compete with the popular fat gong slave and comes up with the idea of what we call today “a brass band”. An exciting duel will determine their fate.

After the movie the directors still lived for a while in the expensive temple set.

Part of the Film Poster exhibition “The Jangton Brothers”. A growing duo-show concept together with illustrator Anton van Steelandt about two mysterious Belgian directors that remained unknown through their career. For this first show we present a selection of giant film posters.

Exhibition running in Mekanik Strip, Antwerp till 2 november. Check it out and let us know what you think !

THE BATTLE OF LOO WATER. A historical epic tale with grand battles and costumed actors. When a stray cannonball hits the sewers of Napoleon’s golden toilet, the Battle of Waterloo becomes the most pungent war ever fought. The green fields are flooded brown while everything in the path is swept away. When all is said and done a plague of mutated plants breaks free at epidemic proportions.

VOODOO VEGAS. A dark police thriller about a laid off circus clown that becomes an evil voodoo priest. When he starts an illegal casino deep in the swamps and criminal activities in the area are on the rise, police wants to bring down the clown. Only, in this game the poker chips are deadly booby traps and swamp creatures..

We showcase a retrospective of 12 film posters about two mysterious Belgian film makers: The Jangton Brothers. Check the event page on Facebook. Flyer below. Come and see for real what that is all about !

Some color paint marker doodling I did while in Sweden last month.

The fantastic and creative folks of BOKTOR MAGAZINE came up with a super fun idea. For issue #2 of their magazine they invented a wacky story about a traveling island governed by boy scouts. They asked a number of artists to help shape what it would look like. I had to handle the part about mail the island would receive. More info on their website, with animations and all !
