I made an adventure games tribute, with special love for the closed Lucasarts studio and a few of my favorite games ( Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, the Monkey Island series ), for the indie game event “Free to Play” at Design Center De Winkelhaak in Antwerp. The event goes on till July and has an art tribute exhibition, custom made arcade games, documentaries, movies, workshops, etc. Don’t miss, it’s superfun !
Saturday 4th of May is Free Comic Book Day. I made a flyer for my favorite and iconic comic book store MEKANIK STRIP in Antwerp that also celebrates its 30th anniversary. The flyer shows all the fun stuff that’s gonna happen and one of those things will be friends of mine and I painting or drawing on literally everything that you bring to the store ! So if you’re in Antwerp, come by ! Last time I did this a few years ago someone brought a fridge.

I made a truckload of editorial illustrations for local Belgian newspaper Gazet Van Antwerpen’s special about the struggles of young muslims in Antwerp “Tussen Meir & Mekka” (“Between the main shopping street of Antwerp and Mecca”). Here’s a selected compilation.
The enthusiast folks of Ladda from Ghent asked me again to contribute in a cool group show at Fort Napoleon (an actual remaining fort of Napoleon) at the seaside of Belgium. 7 artists had to make a large pin board installation with doodles, sketches, ideas, inspiration, etc to visualize who they are. In times of digital pin boards like Pinterest or Facebook this is a nice reminder how fun a real pin board can be.

I also got to know the fantastic dark freaky Japanese band Degurutieni from
Osaka, that opened the exhibition and I did some live sketching.
More artwork I made for the cool AFTER SIX FESTIVAL in Antwerp last weekend. 12 bands teamed up with 12 illustrators. I teamed up with Polish garage rock/punk band Black Coffee from Warsaw. These images are for the zine.
Bands were Slowcoaches, The Phantoms, Savanna, The Stubs, Dead Neanderthals, Little Boy, Moaning Cities, Black Coffee, Téme Tan,Vwhile and Charles Howl.
The others visual artists were cool kids Angela Ferreira ( Kruella d’Enfer ),Pedro Campiche ( akacorleone ), David Penela, Nick Alston, Dzia, Benjamin Sea, ATH1281, Essay Dee, Marie Err, Ricardo Cavolo and Stefan Unkovic.
Met so many fantastic people from Poland, Serbia, Greece, Portugal and England. It was the best !

I’m part of the really cool AFTER SIX FESTIVAL this weekend in the south of Antwerp @ Scheld’apen. Here’s already a tote bag design I did. 12 Bands and 12 illustrators from all over the globe joined forces. The bands will perform saturday and sunday, while artwork specifically made for the festival will be available in the form of prints, vinyl records and tote bags. You can also purchase it as an “art pack”. There’s also an exhibition with large paintings. If you are in Antwerp or around, don’t miss it !
I made a spread image for the MAGIC BOOK OF NIGHTMARES by BELLY KIDS over in London. Had so much fun with this one. Now you know that I fear nazi spiders and farting ducks.
Little tribute I made for the Belgian Oscar-nominated live action short film “Dood van een Schaduw” ( Death of a Shadow ) with Matthias Schoenaerts & Laura Verlinden by Tom Van Avermaet. It’s about a fallen WWI soldier who has to retrieve his own shadow. Alas the film didn’t win, but after the nomination of “Rundskop” ( Bullhead ) last year very proud it’s the second time in a row Belgium got nominated for an Academy Award. Not bad for this tiny country.

So I did this fun little illustrated sheet about Meditation through Youtube for the kind people of Church & Media. Ironically while I was doing it, the Pope resigned. The Catholic organization asked several young illustrators to make their own version of the otherwise rather dusty-looking guidelines.
